Don’t Suffer in Silence

To wed or not to get hitched ? That is the inquiry. It never used to be the query. It had been ‘When to marry?’ not ‘why to marry’. For ages women were expected and put pressure on themselves to dig out a husband young, have the ceremony and set up home with babies and a dog, and dedicate their lives to setting up a good house. Perhaps because females have been loosed from what were once their orthodox roles, that a wedding is no longer a top prority and certainly not the only path to venture down. In fact some people- both men and female absolutely detest the idea of marriage, and can’t imagine looking into a partner’s eyes and promising entirely to spend the rest of their days with them until death do they part. In many ways it’s very sad, because weddings can be such merry occassions especially when they feature a pretty wedding gown and sky lanterns. But, disastrous marriages can be damaging, financially and emotionally harmful, and the most isolating things ever. Though being in a poor partnership is also extremely isolating, somehow with the marriage label, it’s worse still worse. Friends/Work colleagues have certain expectations of a couple when they are officially married and have also spent so much cash on their wedding day. They are expected to be happy or to at least try their hardest to be so. As a result of this sensed external insistency, many partners feel they have to put on a face and enshroud their honest thoughts. The reason why there used to be a greater amount marriages or why marriages lasted longer a few generations ago is because couples had no choice but to keep pressing on with their relationship. This is better in some ways, but in others, it is very wasteful. Yes there were a greater number of wedlocks, but there were also many more desperately suffering ones.
