A successful business depends to a great extent on good people management skills. You may learn and improve these skills. It may be an advantage to have a intuitive affinity for communicating with people, but there are many skills you can learn to make the process simple. Developing relationships: Begin by using an individual’s name. Talk to employees; look co-workers in the eye during a conversation. Show respect, and be sure to be attentive to the other person’s opinion, regardless of whether you agree with them. Developing listening skills is one of the best things you may do to develop your people management skills. Welcome any input from team members.

Exhibit integrity: Keeping your promises is really important. If a promise is broken, it can ruin trust, and individuals will not offer you their best efforts if they can’t trust you. Everytime you make a commitment or give a promise, you are squandering your time and effort unless you act with integrity. The truth is, when you can’t be counted upon, they won’t be available when it’s really important.

Encourage any comments: It’s a two-way street. Human Resource management skills mean keeping an open mind to all feedback. If you are prepared to demonstrate approachability and receptiveness, you establish that you respect your co-worker’s views, your views will be appreciated in return. Bona Fide discourse also encourages creative troubleshooting, ways of fulfilling goals, and strengthens the company dynamic. If your team can express themselves, the outcome will become important to each team member.

Encourage all sorts of communication: Dealing with individuals boils down to the same thing — communication. Maintaining an open door policy, utilize good listening techniques, encourage all sorts of feedback, and encourage all your team members to express themselves. Encourage team members not only to speak to you, but to speak to each other. The sharing of thoughts is important in the creative process, and through speaking with one another, it is easy to find issues before they present as a problem, and corrective measures may be put in place before matters get out of hand. Some work is essential, nevertheless the rewards are worthwhile. Through promoting a good team dynamic and demonstrating good listening skills, you can have the best in business success.

It’s still a popular misconception in more than a few businesses that, when all of their staff have adequate health & safety training, they are suitably prepared to manage any situation. The truth of the matter is that, irrespective your industry, employees should have far more than simply the basics in health & safety legislation. You need to supply your employees with an enthusiastic supervisor, the right equipment, and the chance to practice. Anyone in a supervisory capacity has a bigger function to fulfill than just overseeing the shop floor. Your selection of supervisor is required to see their health & safety training as essential and be able to encourage other people to share their excitement. In addition to enforcing health & safety legislation, the supervisor must also ensure that employees perform every task to the best of their abilty. This isn’t a simple undertaking. Good business knowledge is a requirement in a supervisory job not to mention a high level of knowledge of current regulations with regard to safety, risk appraisal and emergency assistance techniques.

Simply having health & safety training isn’t enough for your staff. Your employees need to acquire practical experience of risk assessment and the recognition of problem areas. Employees also need to develop insights into the essential precautions that they are required to put in place not to mention knowing what to do when the unexpected happens. Workers are only properly protected when their training and procedures have become second nature.

Education is in fact useless if you don’t supply the required safety equipment. Without the appropriate equipment or alternatively if they see that items are damaged when they actually need them, then all the education available is not going to help them. Servicing your equipment on a regular basis is fundamental. If you find something is not in good condition, ensure it is mended or serviced as a matter of urgency. Your workforce have to receive the right health & safety instruction, but in addition they also must have quality gear, the chance to practise, and a supervisor with the kind of enthusiasm that is contagious. If you implement these steps you should see that health & safety legislation will before long become ingrained in your business culture not something troublesome everyone has to make an effort to remember.

Picture this…everyday getting up to your alarm clock, begrudgingly rolling out of bed, grabbing a cup of coffee, showering, dressing, making that long commute to work, doing your job, coming home, going to bed, only to do it all over again the next day.

OR

Waking up, excited to greet the day and what may be in store for you. Feeling a spring in your step and a strong sense deep inside that whatever the day brings, you will have fun…because you know that you’re doing what you love, what you’re best at, and what you’re meant to be doing.

~Purpose and Passion~

What does it mean to live life with a passion and on purpose? What if you have no idea what your passion or purpose is? These are important questions and I am here to tell you…WE ALL have a purpose and WE ALL have passions. Whether it is clearly defined, whether we realize it or not, we do.

Some people are born knowing what ignites a fire for them, what drives them forward, what their purpose is. Others are less sure and go in search of that passion and purpose, exploring many things. How ever one comes to realize their own passion and purpose, it’s OK…there is no right or wrong way. Honestly, it was not until the last few years that I really came to understand what my purpose is. (I will admit sometimes trying to figure it out was rather frustrating. )

One day I was asked, “What do you feel your purpose is?” and without thinking the following words fell out of my mouth… “My purpose is to ask questions, to help others to find the resources and beauty within them and around them to excel.” THAT WAS IT! I quickly grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote it down. It was then that I realized what I was most passionate about; helping others find the answers within them to move forward in their own lives. (That is exactly why I became a coach. :::smile::::)

Amazingly enough, all it took was someone to ask me a question and force me to think for a moment. So now, I wish to ask you, “What is your purpose?” If you don’t know the answer to that question just yet, that’s OK…instead consider the following questions;

1) What excites you the most?
2) What around you ignites a fire?
3) Have you ever done something where you lost all track of time? What were you doing?

If those questions don’t help to get your juices flowing, then try to visualize what your ideal day would look like. A day where you could do anything you wished. Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down as much detail as possible. Where are you? What sounds do you hear? What are you doing?

Just remember, it’s OK if the answers do not come right away…they may come when you least expect them. In the meantime, have fun exploring and if you need any support or assistance in finding your purpose, please contact me (pam@whatswithinu.com). I will gladly provide you with a complimentary coaching session.

Are you a leader from the people, are you loved and respected. Are you an aristocratic leader, who demands respect and uses fear and tactics of intimidation to lead? The Prince by Machiavelli certainly had a lot to say about this. For those who have been in a leadership position, whether running a company or large organization there is no doubt you understand the differences in how different folks apply leadership.

Are you a good leader? Do you know what it takes? No need to answer, I am reality based, I have been there, I know what it takes, I have dug ditches, shoveled sh_t and pressed on. I have done the hail Marry passes and been behind the eight ball, crashed and burned and ran away to fight another day. I have been thru the sewer, drug thru the mud, been whipped and beaten, kicked into oblivion, so I know what it takes. But focus, determination and unwillingness to surrender is necessary to win. No excuses, no sugar coating, no wimps. That’s all.

Can you say the same? Have you also been to the school of hard knocks, have you let your adversity build your character? Can you look back today and say that you gave it your 100%? When was the last time you reflected on your style of leadership? Are you a good leader? The reason I ask is that re-affirmation is necessary, either one is in it to win it, or they are coasting. Have you bread that level of commitment into your company? We have and our team knows of the need to win, and that means 110% effort or more: www.CarWashGuys.com . You see it takes all you got and then some. And just when you think you got it, you better not look back or slow down, because that ball will be striped from your hands or you will watch the other team send one out of the park and into orbit in the top of the ninth.

So, am I: Too blunt, too driven, too hard on the natives? Okay? But winners are made of something. Real winners never, ever, ever give up or make excuses types. You have to be that good to win. To go all the way, that is what it takes folks. Come on you know that. Can you think on this tonight for me? Really think about your productivity, your groups success and you ability to lead. Think on that, I will get back to you later and check up.
